One soldier was declared missing and four others were killed during a gun battle between security personnel and suspected bandits at Tudun Bicci Community in Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State.

Chairman of the local government, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed the unfortunate incident to journalists by phone on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi state.

Bena, who condemned the incident, called on disgruntled opposition figures  to bring an end to the continued smearing the image of the area, as the state government, in collaboration with the local government, was taking measures to bring an end to attacks and kidnappings across the state.

The Council’s boss described the incident, which also claimed the lives of two forest guards and two civilians  during the gun battle, as unfortunate.

He also revealed that a lot of bandits  lost their lives in the battle, while many others fled into the forest with gunshots.     According to him, the security challenges facing the area are due to existing bandit camps in neighbouring states such as Zamfara and Niger.
