Edo Resident Doctors Commend Okpebholo Over Revised CONMESS, Timely Promotions, MRTF Support

The Association of Resident Doctors under Edo State Government Employment (ARD EDGE) has commended Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, for implementing the revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) in line with the remuneration obtainable in federal hospitals.

The association also lauded the governor for supporting the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) and ensuring timely promotion of healthcare workers in the state.

In a statement jointly signed by the President of ARD EDGE, Dr. Peter O. Evbuomwan, and the Secretary-General, Dr. Ernest Hills Oamen, the resident doctors described the prompt processing of promotions as a landmark achievement for the state’s health sector.

The association said it was particularly encouraged that promotions were now being processed as and when due, describing the development as “a historic milestone for healthcare workers in Edo State.”

While expressing appreciation for the completion of the 2026 promotion exercise, the doctors said beneficiaries were looking forward to the implementation of the promotions in the coming weeks.

“Furthermore, we acknowledge with gratitude the ongoing construction of the Doctors’ Residence, which is near completion, following assurances that it will be ready within this month of August.

“Additionally, we note his continued support for the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) for beneficiaries, strengthening the state’s healthcare sector by expanding specialist training,” the statement read.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the state government to improve healthcare delivery and advance Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda.

ARD EDGE said it remained fully committed to working collaboratively with the Okpebholo administration in supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the healthcare system and improving the welfare of medical professionals in Edo State.
