Governorship candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in Katsina State, Engr Nura Khalil, has said over 100,000 students dropped out of school without writing the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) within the seven and half years of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.
Speaking at a campaign in Mashi local government council, he said students left school because their parents couldn’t afford to register them for either the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examinations Council (NECO).
He further said he had plans to enroll all drop-outs to sit for the examinations and proceed to tertiary institutions, urging concerned students to register in the portal he created for that purpose if he gets the governorship seat.
He also promised to provide jobs for youths by creating another portal for unemployed youths to register.
Khalil promised to encourage micro and small scale businesses, provide over solar energy and boost Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) in the state if elected.
