Motivation

Mosopefoluwa said, she was motivated by  passion;  the need to get something to do after graduation, and the desire to gain financial freedom which got her into the skincare line because by then, she had stopped receiving pocket money from her parents.

The Beginning

Having established Mo Organic Skin Outfit in 2018, Mosopefoluwa says, she never envisioned herself going into the skincare business. She said, it started as a hobby during her undergraduate days, but she never thought it would grow to the stage it is now.

She found out most women are always concerned about their skin, and the fact that she is someone who has had a passion for business right from her undergraduate days, all she did was master the craft.

Lucrativity of the Business

Skincare branding, she said, is a lucrative business even though you do not chunk out millions of naira like in tech or real estate.

Challenges

To her, “the challenges we face in the business are the difficulty in sourcing raw materials, unstable foreign exchange, and high cost of shipment. For instance, the ingredients used in production are imported, especially, the packaging materials.

“Our products need a conducive environment, so we spend more buying diesel because of the lack of a stable power supply. Supermarkets or stores are not willing to stock up on Nigerian brands. They would rather stock up on other countries’ products, and if they do take our product, they price it below its cost.”

Advice For Upcoming Entrepreneurs

Mosopefoluwa believes consistency and determination are keys to becoming a successful business owner. “You may be good at something, but to be the best at it, you need to invest in yourself. Pay for those physical and online courses that can assist you, and they will help you in the long run. Also, never be scared to ask for help; no one knows it all, so knowledge is power,” she stressed.

Biography

Mosopefoluwa Agbeyangi is the managing director of Mo Organic Skincare. The beauty therapist holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and mineral sciences from Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun State.

After graduation in 2018, she decided to go full-time into a skincare product, which she was running during her NYSC.

In a bid to master the craft, Mosopefoluwa took an advanced diploma in cosmetic formulation and cosmetic science.

Having started with just two products, Mo Organic Skincare now has over 40 beauty products, including, clarifying face wash, vitamin C serum, face and body scrub, rosewater toner, and acne face wash, and has been approved by NAFDAC as a safe and good product for both adults and children.
