Osun State governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing the President as “a son of Osun State.”

Adeleke made the declaration shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the just-concluded Osun governorship election, securing a second term in office.

The governor, while delivering his acceptance remarks, thanked President Tinubu for his role in ensuring that the election was free and fair, describing the outcome as a victory for the people of Osun State.

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said.

“Mr President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.”

LEADERSHIP reports that INEC declared Adeleke the winner in the early hours of Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwale, said Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.

The candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADP), Dr Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes.

According to the Returning Officer, the state had 2,339,544 registered voters, while 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election.

He said 985,097 votes were valid, while 20,721 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of ballots cast to 1,005,800.

Ogunwale said Adeleke satisfied the requirements of the law by scoring the highest number of votes and securing a two-thirds majority in two-thirds of the 30 local government areas of the state.

“I, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwale, hereby declare the candidate of Accord, Ademola Jackson Adeleke, the winner of the election, having satisfied the requirements,” he declared.

Adeleke’s victory has attracted congratulatory messages from several political figures, including President Tinubu, African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, NDC’s Vice presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, among others.
