Benue Assembly To Screen Alia’s 6 Commissioner-nominees

Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has forwarded a list of six commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and approval.

The Assembly said the nominees were contained in a letter dated August 18, 2026, and comprised of persons proposed to replace outgoing members of the State Executive Council (SEC) as well as new nominees to fill existing vacancies.

Governor Alia in a letter addressed to the speaker of the House, Aondoaver Berger Alfred Emberga, said the move was intended to strengthen the council and inject additional expertise and capacity into the administration.

In a statement issued by the speaker’s chief press secretary, Zape Michael Upaa, he listed the nominees as Kuma Aii Yenge, Roy Ashirga Terna, Angwa Egbe Monday, Elizabeth Onma Ogenyi, Solomon Iorpev and Nick Eworo.

Governor Alia said the nominations were made in exercise of his constitutional powers and pursuant to Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

According to the statement, the governor requested the House to give the nominees prompt and favourable consideration in accordance with its constitutional responsibility.

“The submission comes as the Alia administration continues efforts to consolidate its cabinet and strengthen the machinery of government for effective service delivery across Benue State,” the statement added.
