Wife of immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun and other spirited Nigerians have expanded their skills and empowerment programmes in Abuja and environs to engage over 100 women and youths who were offered practical skills for self-development.

During a one-day skills acquisition Programme, in Abuja on Friday organised by the Temitope Societal Sustainability and Development Initiative, Mrs. Egbetokun said in her remarks that it was part of the commitment to create opportunities that move people from dependence to self-reliance and from vulnerability to productivity.

Mrs. Egbotokun,  the immediate past  president of the Police Officers  Wives Association, said participants received practical training in pastry production, fascinator making, soap making and graphics design.

“These may appear like simple skills, but when taken seriously and combined with discipline, creativity and determination, they can become sustainable businesses and sources of income,” she said.

She said further that when people are given practical skills and opportunities, they are better positioned to earn a decent livelihood, support their families and live a reasonably good and dignified life.

“Our commitment is to continue empowering women, youths and vulnerable persons, because sustainable development becomes possible when people are equipped to take responsibility for their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities,” she said.

She urged beneficiaries to take this opportunity seriously, stressing that empowerment can open doors, and also admonished them to practice what they have learnt and build on it.
