Troops Engage Bandits Transporting Scores Of Cattle In Sokoto

Tension has gripped Sifawa town in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State after suspected bandits were sighted moving large herds of cattle through the community in broad daylight, sparking fears of a fresh security threat.

A local vigilante leader, Uzari Awalu, confirmed the development to LEADERSHIP, saying the movement of the cattle was followed by a fierce engagement between the bandits and troops of the Forward Operating Base deployed in Sifawa.

According to the source, the military contingent operating from the Sifawa axis was engaged in an ongoing operation against the suspected bandits as of the time of filing this report.

The development has heightened anxiety among residents and farming communities around Sifawa, with security forces said to be maintaining active operations to prevent the criminals from accessing vulnerable communities.

The source further disclosed that public announcements were being made across the area, directing farmers with millet farms along the frontline to immediately harvest their crops and vacate vulnerable areas.
