Liverpool’s Winless Start Continues As Forest Hold Reds To 2-2 Draw

Liverpool’s frustrating start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday as Nottingham Forest twice took the lead before the Reds fought back to secure a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

The result leaves Liverpool without a victory after their opening two league matches, following their 1-1 draw away to Newcastle United on the opening weekend.

Nottingham Forest stunned the home crowd in the 24th minute when Dan Ndoye opened the scoring, finishing from Morgan Gibbs-White’s assist to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Liverpool struggled to break down Forest’s resilient defence before the interval, while Florian Wirtz saw a goal ruled out following a VAR review as Forest went into half-time with their lead intact.

The Reds eventually drew level in the 60th minute when Cody Gakpo converted Alexander Isak’s assist to make it 1-1.

Forest responded by reclaiming the advantage 10 minutes later, with Gibbs-White calmly converting a penalty following a VAR intervention.

Liverpool intensified the pressure in search of another equaliser and were rewarded in the 82nd minute when Víctor Muñoz found the net from Wirtz’s assist to restore parity.

Despite pushing for a late winner, Liverpool could not find a decisive breakthrough as Forest held on for a valuable point.

The draw extends Liverpool’s winless run to two matches and leaves the Reds with plenty to address as they continue their pursuit of their first league victory of the campaign.
