Donald Duke, Adebayo, Aliyu, Others Arrive As Opposition Summit Gets Underway

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Donald Duke; his Social Democratic Party (SDP) counterpart, Adewale Adebayo; and former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, are among the dignitaries who have arrived at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the Summit of Opposition Political Parties.

The summit, convened by political pressure group G-100, is aimed at forging a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with participants seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Also in attendance are the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura; PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed; and SDP vice-presidential candidate, Usman Bugaje.

Others at the summit include Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Fred Agbedi; G-100 Convener, Salihu Lukman; and National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi.

Welcoming the participants, Lukman urged opposition parties to set aside their differences and work towards a common goal of advancing the greater good of Nigeria rather than pursuing individual political interests.

He said, “We are not asking any political party to dissolve. Let us agree that we must build the table before negotiating the seats.”
