Bauchi SUBEB, Association Partner To Improve Basic Education

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has pledged to collaborate with the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Bauchi State chapter, to improve access to quality basic education across the state.

The permanent commissioner II of SUBEB, Alhaji Idris Ahmed Hardawa, made the commitment when he received the newly inaugurated executive members of FOMWAN, Bauchi State Chapter, at the board’s headquarters, yesterday.

Hardawa said SUBEB was ready to partner with organisations and stakeholders whose programmes and objectives aligned with the government’s efforts to strengthen the basic education sector and improve learning outcomes.

He explained that the board was established to work with relevant stakeholders and development partners to ensure the effective delivery of quality basic education, noting that FOMWAN’s visit was timely as SUBEB continued to explore strategic partnerships capable of complementing the government’s efforts.

The permanent commissioner assured the delegation of the board’s support and willingness to identify areas of collaboration that would contribute to the development of education in Bauchi State.

He commended FOMWAN for recognising SUBEB as a key stakeholder in educational development and congratulated the newly inaugurated executives, urging them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, transparency and commitment.

Earlier, the Ameerah of FOMWAN, Bauchi State Chapter, Hajiya Lami Umar Hassan, said the delegation visited SUBEB to seek its collaboration and support in improving the condition of schools established and managed by the association across the state.

She explained that FOMWAN was established at the national level in 1985 and commenced operations in Bauchi State in 1986, with a mandate to promote Da’awah, empower and support women and children, and contribute to community development.

According to her, the association currently operates more than 20 nursery, primary and secondary schools across the 20 local government areas of the state.

Hajiya Lami, however, identified three FOMWAN schools within Bauchi metropolis as requiring urgent intervention, particularly in the areas of renovation, provision of teaching and learning materials, and deployment of qualified teachers.

She said the organisation’s activities were anchored on four major areas, education, health, Da’awah and humanitarian services, through which it contributes to the welfare and development of communities across the state.

The Ameerah expressed optimism that a stronger partnership with SUBEB would help address some of the challenges confronting FOMWAN schools and further enhance the quality of education provided to children across Bauchi State.
