The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) has announced a review of its debt repayment framework for metered customers with validated outstanding electricity debts above ₦1 million.

Under the revised arrangement, affected customers will now repay their validated outstanding debts through a 30 per cent deduction from every vending transaction, irrespective of the debt category or repayment plan previously assigned to them.

The company’s head of Corporate Communications, Saratu Aliyu Dauda stated that the review is aimed at accelerating debt recovery while promoting a more effective and sustainable approach to managing customer indebtedness as a customer centric organization.

She noted that the revised arrangement supersedes previous repayment structures for customers with validated debts above N1 million, including those previously paying fixed monthly amounts or operating under structured repayment arrangements.

Dauda further clarified that customers with validated outstanding debts below N1 million will continue under the existing arrangement, with N2,000 deducted once monthly for Residential Customers and N2,500 once monthly for Maximum Demand (MD)/Commercial Customers from vending transactions until their outstanding debts are settled.

She encouraged customers with outstanding debts to continue vending regularly, noting that consistent vending will facilitate the gradual settlement of their obligations.

JEDC appreciates the cooperation and understanding of its customers as it continues to strengthen its debt management and revenue recovery processes in line with its commitment to sustainable service delivery.
