The First National Female Youth Conference has commenced grassroots mobilisation in Benue State as part of efforts to strengthen youth participation, leadership, empowerment and engagement at the grassroots level.

The development followed a courtesy visit by the Benue State chapter of the organisation to the state commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity, Nick Eworo, in Makurdi.

The delegation, led by the state representative for the conference, Mayoress Ebute Azumi-Mary, alongside members of the state executive, formally introduced the organisation to the commissioner and briefed him on its prposed conference.

The visit also featured the initiation of a grassroots mobilisation structure in the state, aimed at strengthening the participation of young women in leadership and youth development.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the commissioner on the organisation’s vision, mission and objectives and informed him about the conference, which it described as the first of its kind in Nigeria.

The conference is expected to bring together female youth leaders from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT to discuss issues affecting young women, develop solutions and adopt a charter to be presented to the government, parliamentarians, the National Assembly and other relevant stakeholders.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen collaboration between the organisation and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity while creating opportunities for young women across the state to participate in youth development and community transformation.

The Commissioner welcomed the delegation and expressed his readiness to support the organisation and its objectives.

He also commended the initiative and its focus on inclusivity and youth participation in national development, assuring the members of his cooperation.
