Fintiri Promises Relief, Recovery For Displaced Lamurde Communities

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has pledged comprehensive relief and recovery support for families and communities displaced by recent unrest in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Fintiri made the commitment when he received a delegation from the Bachama Kingdom, led by the Hama Bachama, Homun Daniel Ismaila Shaga, at the Government House, Yola.

The Governor disclosed that a government team would soon visit the affected communities to assess the extent of damage and determine the immediate and long-term needs of displaced residents.

As part of the recovery efforts, Fintiri said his administration would inaugurate a special committee to work directly with affected communities, assess destroyed property and coordinate targeted financial and material assistance to enable victims to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining lasting peace across Lamurde, Numan and other affected communities.

Governor Fintiri commended the traditional leadership for its role in maintaining calm and promoting peaceful coexistence, assuring the delegation that dialogue and engagement would remain central to the government’s approach to resolving communal disputes.

He stressed that sustainable peace is critical to economic recovery, development and the restoration of livelihoods in communities affected by conflict.

Earlier, the Hama Bachama, Homun Daniel Ismaila Shaga, said the delegation was at the Government House to appreciate the Fintiri administration for its efforts towards restoring and sustaining peace in the area.

The traditional ruler appealed to the Governor to intervene in the lingering issues between local communities and Savannah Company, noting that an amicable resolution would strengthen peaceful coexistence and help stimulate economic activities in the area.

He urged the Governor to facilitate dialogue between the communities and the company, stressing that peaceful cooperation among residents, businesses and other stakeholders was essential to restoring livelihoods and promoting sustainable development in the region.
