Northern Students Laud Defence Minister For Tackling Security Challenges

The Association of Northern Nigeria Students (ANNS) has commended the minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, for his “unwavering commitment” to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
The students’ body said Musa had demonstrated courage, patriotism and capacity since his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his role as crucial to the country’s peace, unity and security.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, its president, Comrade Baba Mahadi, said the minister had remained committed to protecting the life and property of Nigerians and had consistently spoken on critical issues affecting national security.

The association urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and allow due process to prevail while supporting security institutions in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

“At a time when truth and accountability are essential, we encourage Nigerians to remain peaceful, allow due process to prevail, and continue supporting our security institutions in their constitutional responsibilities,” he said.

The students also called for greater objectivity in public discussions surrounding Nigeria’s security situation, stressing that citizens had an important role to play in confronting the challenges bedevilling the country.

“Nigeria belongs to its citizens, and we, the citizens, must rise to be objective in our views to face the security challenges bedevilling the nation,” he said.

Mahadi said Musa had demonstrated capacity since assuming office as defence minister under the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.

He urged Nigerians to resist actions capable of undermining national unity and instead support legitimate security institutions as they work to tackle threats to the nation’s peace and stability.

According to the association, its vote of confidence was based on what it described as Musa’s “unwavering commitment” to national security and his record of service to the country.
