Adamawa State deputy governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, has advocated for a curriculum development that grows with learners to mitigate societal challenges.

Farauta made the request in a keynote address at the 37th National Annual Conference (CON) on curriculum review, held at Adamawa State University, Mubi.

She urged the participants to consider a periodic review of the curriculum dynamics for learners and innovative ideas.

She pointed out that continuous periodic review of the curriculum would transform the education sector, which can rise to meet the social and economic transformation

She advised that industrialists, farmers and market women should form critical stakeholders in developing a curriculum that is responsive to artificial intelligence.

Earlier, the President of the Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria (CON), Professor Grace Offorma, in her remarks, said curriculum innovations must transform society into reality.

She identifies poor funding as a major factor militating against the education sector.

Declaring the conference open, the Vice Chancellor, Adamawa State University, Mubi, Professor Augustine Clement, described the institution as a beacon of scholarship and collaboration.

He maintained that curriculum innovation is a necessity in the fast-changing world, as it serves as a bridge between tradition and transformation, between the classroom and the world of work, between the aspirations of youth and the realities of the modern economy.

The Chairman of the local organising committee, Professor Kamkwis Markus Zira, stressed that the conference theme, “Curriculum innovations in the 21st Century,” is deliberate and urgent, given rapid technological change, shifting labour markets, global interdependence, climate risk, and persistent inequalities.

Highlights of the conference also include the fellowship investiture of the CON members and the award presentation to the deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, and the vice chancellor, Adamawa State University, Mubi, Professor Augustine Clement, among others.

The deputy governor also commissioned the international conference centre at the institution
