The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has promised to put Nigeria on the path of progress if elected president, adding that under his leadership, a new Nigeria is possible.

At the party’s Northern Nigeria Campaign Flag-off in Kaduna yesterday, Obi also promised to create jobs, finance food production, fight corruption and move Nigeria from consumption to production.

Obi and his running late, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, who arrived the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna amidst cheers from party supporters, urged his supporters to take back their country and elect people with character and integrity who, he said, he and his running mate represent.

He pledged to create jobs, and provide opportunities for the nation’s teeming youths to compete globally.

“We are going to bring back Nigeria that Nigerians would be proud of, we want to bring a united Nigeria; we are not here to make fake promises; we will secure and unite Nigeria.

“Don’t vote for tribe, if they say it is their turn, tell them it is your turn to take back the country. We are ready to save the country.”

Obi explained that the country was not secure and people were living in suffering and hunger, adding that he would recruit more policemen and military personnel, and give them good working conditions.

“We want to change Nigeria for the better. We want to move Nigeria from consumption to production. We don’t want people to run out of Nigeria again. We want to restructure Nigeria for development. We want to build a better Nigeria, so go out and support us.

“We want to fight corruption. We will make sure that we have electricity. We are going to revive Kaduna textile industries. Pick your PVCs and vote for Labour Party and make sure that they count the vote, a new Nigeria is possible,” he said.
