Nigerians Flood Abuja Shop Where Every Item Sells For N1,800

A shop in Lugbe, Abuja, where customers can buy any item on display for N1,800, has witnessed increased patronage.

LEADERSHIP visited the store on Sunday and observed a rush of shoppers, with Nigerians seeking affordable household, school, and personal items queuing to select their preferred products.

Our correspondent gathered that the store, which is Chinese-owned, is attracting a large number of Nigerians seeking affordable goods.

The store, known as Low Cost World, has become a talking point among residents in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly for its wide range of products at the same price.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the retailer currently operates in other parts of Abuja, including Lugbe, with shoppers visiting the outlets to browse shelves packed with kitchen utensils, tableware, glassware, ceramics, toys, cosmetics, clothing, hardware tools, and other household and office items.

At its Market Square location in the former ShopRite building in Lugbe, shoppers could be seen moving from one section to another, picking up items and filling shopping baskets with products carrying the popular N1,800 price tag.

Although most products are sold for N1,800, a small number cost more, with their individual prices clearly displayed.

A shopper, Angela Adah, who was at the Lugbe outlet on Sunday to buy school items for her children and kitchen utensils, said the uniform pricing was one of the reasons she decided to visit the store.

“I came mainly to get a few things for my children because schools will soon be demanding different items. When I got here, I also saw some kitchen utensils that I liked, so I started adding them to my basket,” she said.

Adah also said the fixed price could encourage shoppers to pick more items than they initially planned.

“The N1,800 price looks small when you are picking one item, but when you pick ten or 20 things, you will realise that you have spent quite a lot. That is something shoppers have to keep in mind,” she added.

Another shopper, Chinedu Okafor, said the variety of products was one of the biggest attractions.

“You can come looking for one thing and end up seeing several other things you did not plan to buy. There are kitchen items, children’s things, decorations and many other products. The fact that most of them have the same price makes shopping interesting,” he said.
