Following the recent deadly attack in Mbanga Village of Taraba State, the State Police Command, has deployed additional personnel and a police helicopter for aerial surveillance to the troubled communities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Edwin Ogbegahgha, announced the reinforcement, when he led the Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army and other security personnel on an assessment of the affected community.
The assessment followed an incident in which several persons were reportedly killed and property destroyed, thereby heightening security concerns in the area.
During the visit, CP Ogbegahgha, however held an extensive discussions with community stakeholders and security personnel on measures to prevent further attacks, to strengthen intelligence gathering and to restore lasting peace.
He said, the Command was going to intensifies security operations in the locality for peace and progress.
The commissioner said, the additional manpower and police helicopter provided by the Nigeria Police Air Wing were being deployed in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
He assured residents that the police and other security agencies were working jointly to protect lives and property and prevent a recurrence of the violence.
According to him, the aerial surveillance would complement ground operations and enhance the ability of security agencies to monitor the affected areas and respond to emerging threats.
The police commissioner urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, while appealing to them to provide timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and arresting those responsible for the attacks.
He also called on the state government, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to strengthen their cooperation with security agencies, as sustainable peace could only be achieved through collective efforts.
He reaffirmed its commitment to working with the military and other sister security agencies to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of residents across Sardauna and other parts of the state.
