Cristiano Ronaldo wasted no time in expressing his happiness to be back on the pitch for the first time since leaving Manchester United.
The 37-year-old made his first appearance since a blockbuster move to Saudi Arabia on Thursday as the country’s all-stars came up against Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in a friendly.
He showed glimpses of the brilliance his fans are so familiar with two goals as the all-stars were beaten 5-4 in what was a thriller of a match.
Taking to social media soon after, Ronaldo ignored the fact that his side suffered defeat and instead chose to focus on the positive fact that he was back playing football.
Ronaldo even shared a snap with Lionel Messi, and his caption suggested he was happy to have faced the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner possibly for the last time.
“So happy to be back on the pitch, and on the score sheet!! And nice to see some old friends,” he tweeted.
Interestingly, Messi also shared the embrace with Cristiano on his Instagram in a clear indication of mutual respect between the two superstars.
How the game went as far as the game was concerned, both Ronaldo and Messi were on the scoresheet.
