Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez has said he expects Madagascar to pose a strong, resilient and energetic challenge when Nigeria face them in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday in Uyo.
Speaking to Football Fans Tribe, the Rangers star said he believes Madagascar will fight hard against the Super Eagles and that Nigeria must match their intensity to show their quality.
“Look, I am expecting Madagascar to be a very strong team and I feel like they are going to have a lot of resilience and energy. That’s something we are going to need to match and show our quality through matching their energy,” Fernandez said.
Nigeria and Madagascar have met five times in senior men’s international matches. Nigeria has won three of those encounters, Madagascar has won one, while one clash ended in a draw.
After the Madagascar match, Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau in their next AFCON qualifier on Tuesday.
