Dangote Petroleum Refinery produced an average of 84.43 million litres of refined white products daily in August 2026, reinforcing its role as a major supplier across Nigeria and the wider West African region, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The products comprised Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, Automotive Gas Oil, AGO/diesel, and Aviation Turbine Kerosene, ATK.
The refinery achieved the output after surpassing its nameplate capacity, recording 105.21 per cent capacity utilisation during the month. It processed an average of 736,470 barrels of crude oil per day, up from 497,000 barrels per day in July when utilisation stood at 71 per cent.
The performance was supported by an increase in domestic crude supply, which rose by 16.75 per cent to 683,000 barrels per day in August.
According to the Dangote Group, the milestone underscores the refinery’s growing contribution to Nigeria’s energy security, foreign exchange conservation, and industrial growth agenda. The Group said operating above nameplate capacity demonstrates the efficiency, reliability and resilience of the plant.
Beyond meeting domestic needs, the refinery significantly boosted Nigeria’s export profile.
In August, it exported an average of 9.73 million litres of PMS, 8.75 million litres of diesel, and 21.30 million litres of aviation fuel per day, totalling nearly 40 million litres of refined products.
The volumes support Nigeria’s emergence as a net exporter of refined petroleum products and contribute to increased foreign exchange earnings.
On the domestic front, PMS deliveries rose by 39 per cent month-on-month to 35.87 million litres per day, accounting for about 71 per cent of the total domestic petrol supply. That surge helped cut national PMS imports by 26 per cent to 14.60 million litres per day.
The impact was even more pronounced in the diesel market, where domestic AGO deliveries averaged 12.37 million litres per day. This reduced national diesel imports from 7.90 million litres per day in July to 1.30 million litres per day in August.
The development, the Group noted, reflects the refinery’s increasing ability to support critical sectors of the economy, including transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, telecommunications and power generation.
The strong operational showing also reinforces investor confidence as the refinery’s ongoing public offering continues to attract significant market attention.
Dangote Group reiterated its commitment to maximising local value addition, supporting economic diversification, and ensuring a sustainable supply of high-quality refined petroleum products to Nigeria, Africa, and global markets.
