The national director of Support Groups of the City Boy Movement, Dr Martha Agba, has described Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari’s nomination as director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as a recognition of his political experience and organisational capacity.
Agba stated this yesterday in a goodwill message to Yari, noting that the appointment comes at an important stage of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
She said the responsibility of coordinating a presidential campaign of national scope requires political experience, effective stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and the ability to coordinate diverse structures towards a common objective.
According to her, Yari’s experience in governance, legislative politics and party organisation has given him exposure to different layers of Nigeria’s political system, which would be relevant to the demands of the assignment.
She noted that the campaign council would have to coordinate party leaders, elected officials, support groups, women and youth organisations as well as grassroots structures across the federation.
“Yari’s emergence as director-general speaks to the experience and organisational capacity required for an assignment of this magnitude. His exposure to governance and party politics will be valuable in coordinating the different interests and structures that make up a national presidential campaign,” Agba said.
Agba also stressed the importance of maintaining effective communication between the national campaign structure and grassroots political networks, saying the success of any broad-based campaign depends significantly on coordination between its various components.
She said Yari’s familiarity with political stakeholders across different constituencies would be useful as the campaign council engages party structures and other groups ahead of the election.
The National Director of Support Groups congratulated Yari on his 58th birthday, describing the occasion as a fitting moment to acknowledge his years of public service and to recognise the responsibility that now lies before him.
She wished the former Zamfara State governor success as he takes on the task of coordinating the APC presidential campaign machinery for the 2027 elections.
