Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has commended President Bola Tinubu for the ongoing construction of the Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto dual carriageway.
He said the project will boost economic activities, improve transportation and enhance security in the North-West zone when completed.
Matawalle stated this in a goodwill message to mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of Zamfara State and Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
The message was contained in a statement issued in Gusau yesterday by the publicity secretary of the Matawalle Political Standing Committee (MPSC), Yusuf Idris Gusau.
The minister felicitated with the people of Zamfara on the anniversary and said the milestone offers an opportunity to review the state’s development and challenges and to promote peaceful coexistence, unity and progress.
He commended the state’s first Military Administrator, Col. Jibril Bala Yakubu (rtd), and former governors for their contributions to the state’s development.
He also paid tribute to the late Gen. Sani Abacha, former Head of State, who created Zamfara State in 1996.
Matawalle lauded elders and other stakeholders whose efforts led to the state’s creation.
He reiterated his commitment to developing Zamfara and assured Governor Dauda Lawal of his readiness to maintain a cordial working relationship with the present administration in the state’s interest.
He urged residents to embrace unity, peace, and hard work for the state’s progress.
The former governor noted that past leaders contributed to the development of education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and political awareness to the best of their abilities.
Matawalle commended the people of the state for their support, commitment and perseverance despite over a decade of insecurity.
He called on them to continue to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The minister expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will record victory in Zamfara and across the North-west in the 2027 general elections.
He urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu/Shettima ticket for a second term to ensure continuity in governance.
