Polls: IHS Donates Communication Gadgets To NIS

As part of its moves to promote effective border patrol as the country gears up for the 2023 general elections, an international telecoms infrastructure company, IHS has donated communications equipment worth millions of naira to the Nigeria Immigration service (NIS).

The company’s chief executive office, Dr Mohammad Darwish, who handed over the gadgets to the comptroller-general of NIS, said it was bordered about the porous state of the country’s border and  has been working closely with the telecom industry in Nigeria in the last twenty one years  on how best to fix the lapses .

The gadgets included 25 Motorola high performance base stations , 155 walkie talkies and other high performance communication gadgets.

He said so far, IHS has also provided employment to over 40,000 Nigerians directly and indirectly to reduce the level of unemployment in the nation as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Earlier in his welcome speech, the comptroller-general of NIS, Mr. Isah Jere Idris, thanked the company for its responsiveness in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and confirmed the company’s contributions to NIS in the last 20-years, counting from his time as desk officer with the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC).

 

He promised that the equipment will be put to the best use, especially as the country has less than four weeks until the general elections.
