The mother of late twin sisters, A’ida and Hadiyya, has recounted her final moments with her daughters, describing their deaths two days apart as a devastating loss compounded by the inseparable bond they shared throughout their lives.

In an emotional account, the mother said both sisters were university graduates with promising careers ahead of them, describing them as gentle, respectful and deeply committed to their faith.

She said Hadiyya, a medical graduate, had completed her housemanship and hoped to specialise in haematology, while A’ida, a pharmacy graduate, wanted to deepen her knowledge of drug formulation, particularly traditional medicines containing active compounds that could be used to treat certain illnesses.

The mother added that A’ida married in January 2026, describing both daughters as gifted women who brought dignity and pride to their family.

Recounting her last encounter with Hadiyya, she said she was preparing to leave home for a training programme when she asked her daughter to wait in the living room so they could say goodbye.

However, she inadvertently left through the back door to greet her own mother, forgetting that Hadiyya was waiting for her.

She said she had already entered her vehicle when she realised she had forgotten something and instructed her driver to return to the house.

According to her, Hadiyya came out after hearing the vehicle and the gate opening, reminding her mother that she had been waiting in the living room.

The mother said they embraced, as they usually did before parting, before Hadiyya said, “May God unite us in goodness.”

She described the encounter as their final farewell, adding that she later received a telephone call in the middle of the night informing her of Hadiyya’s death.

Despite the grief, she said the family found comfort in reports that Hadiyya died while listening to Qur’anic recitation and had the Shahada, the Islamic testimony of faith, on her lips.

The mother also recounted how A’ida struggled to cope with the loss of her twin sister, saying she repeatedly told friends and others close to her that she could not imagine living without Hadiyya.

“She kept telling her friends and those close to her, ‘What is the point of my life? I cannot live without my sister; we came into this world together,’” the mother recalled.

She said A’ida returned to the family home on a Saturday to offer condolences following her sister’s death. The family spent time together before A’ida also died.

The mother attributed A’ida’s death to the emotional distress following her twin sister’s death, describing the tragedy as a heartbreak that culminated in what she said was cardiac arrest.

She added that A’ida reportedly recited the Shahada before her death.

Reflecting on the loss, the mother said losing a child was an indescribable pain, particularly when the children had become an integral part of a parent’s daily life.

She described children as a trust from God, saying parents were caretakers who must eventually surrender them to their Creator.

“As parents, children are merely a trust given to us; they do not belong to us. When the Owner comes to reclaim His trust, you have no choice but to return it,” she said.

The mother said her daughters’ absence had left a painful void in the family, recalling their daily conversations, playful disagreements and companionship.

She added that even ordinary activities, such as shopping while thinking of gifts to bring home for them, had become painful reminders of their absence.

According to her, parents often spend hours searching for items their children would appreciate, only to return home and realise that those they bought the gifts for were no longer there.

Despite the tragedy, she said the family continued to thank God, drawing strength from their faith and the circumstances surrounding the sisters’ final moments.
