The Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) has arrested a 24-year-old man, Muhammad Babuga, suspected of belonging to a kidnapping gang operating around the Kogi-Enugu border.
The suspect was arrested at about 7pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Igabada, a border community between Kogi and Enugu states, following credible intelligence, the service said.
The Public Relations Officer of the service, Idris S. Idris, disclosed this in a statement, adding that the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang.
According to the statement, Babuga was also identified by a kidnapping victim who had been released by the gang after a ransom was paid.
The Comptroller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Anataku, commended the personnel involved in the operation for their commitment and effective security efforts, urging them to sustain the tempo.
Anataku also appreciated Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support and encouragement, which he said had boosted personnel morale and enhanced service delivery.
He urged members of the public to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to support efforts to combat crime across the state.
The service said photographs of the arrested suspect had been made available to the public.
