Following the recent attack by Lakurawa bandits at the Kebbi-Sokoto federal highway, the Kebbi state police command has warned that henceforth, any blockage of the highway would attract arrest and legal action with the suspects being prosecuted before the court of law.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the command, SP Bashir Usman.
The statement quoted the commissioner of police, Umar Muhammed Hajejia as appealing to residents to act responsibly, respect the rights of fellow citizens and refrain from any act or conduct that could distrupt the free movement of persons and goods on roads and highways.
The police boss also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in unlawful assemblies particularly on the roads without concrete reasons.
“Anyone caught doing so will be arrested and prosecuted,” Hadejia said.
Lakurawa bandits had recently attacked a construction site along Sokoto-Badagry road, killing four workers.
