The Foundation for Human Capacity Development and Innovation has graduated 88 youths from Suleja, Niger State, after training them in leadership, character development and digital skills.

The graduands were trained in leadership and character development, cybersecurity and ethical hacking, robotics and embedded programming, data science and analytics, software development, artificial intelligence, 3D and creative design, filmmaking, photography and content creation.

At the ceremony, the founder and group managing director/chief executive officer of Navy Holdings Limited, Abuja, Rear Admiral Hamza Ibrahim, expressed confidence that the graduands had acquired the skills and discipline needed to contribute positively to society.

He said the investment in the youths had yielded positive results, adding that the programme was designed to prepare young Nigerians for future leadership responsibilities.

“On a day like this, I am pleased that the efforts, time and resources we invested in these youths have not been wasted.

“I am also happy because we have impacted the lives of young Nigerians who will take responsibility and occupy leadership positions in the country’s future,” he said.

Ibrahim expressed gratitude that the programme had been conducted successfully without any disciplinary challenges, describing the development as evidence that the foundation had achieved one of its key objectives.

He said, “I am also happy that God made the programme seamless. Throughout the programme, we did not have issues, and we did not record any disciplinary problems or have cause to withdraw anybody.

“This is good news for me because this is the essence of the programme: to instil discipline in them and change their perspective about life.”

The foundation’s founder further disclosed that a mentorship system had been established to monitor the progress of graduates and provide support as they pursue careers in their chosen fields.

According to him, the foundation maintains a database of trainees and regularly checks on their progress, inviting them back to the centre to assess their development and identify areas where they may require assistance.

“Anyone we train here, we have their database and keep track of their progress.

“We track them and, once in a while, call them back to the centre to see how they are coping and also hear from them,” he said.

Ibrahim added that the foundation also provides resources to graduates who require assistance to establish businesses, while helping them identify potential markets for their services.

“If there are those who require resources to start businesses, we assist them with resources.

“In fact, it would surprise you to know that we equally look for markets for them. As I speak to you now, I already have a market for an activity that is going to happen.

“It is an IT-driven activity, and that individual wants people from data science, software development and cybersecurity to fill in that activity for a limited period,” he said.

He said the foundation’s post-training support system was aimed at ensuring  that graduates could translate the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme into meaningful career opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures.
