The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled a citizen-engagement platform to enable Nigerians to question him on his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued by the Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Phrank Shaibu, said the platform, tagged “Ask AA”, is scheduled to go live at 8:30 pm on Thursday.
He said the initiative will allow Nigerians to submit questions on key national issues, including the economy, security, technology, job creation and measures to reduce the cost of living.
According to the statement, Atiku will personally respond to questions submitted through the portal, with members of his media team also assisting in providing answers.
The campaign council said the platform was designed to bridge the communication gap between the former Vice-President and the electorate by providing citizens with direct access to information about his positions and policy proposals.
Shaibu said the initiative was intended to bring Atiku closer to Nigerians through a practical and problem-solving approach to public engagement.
“The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform,” he said.
He added that the initiative reflected Atiku’s commitment to deploying modern technology to make governance more efficient, secure and effective.
The campaign council also disclosed plans to introduce a radio interface to enable people in communities with limited or no internet access to participate in the engagement.
Announcing the platform on his social media accounts, Atiku said the idea was driven by his belief that effective leadership requires direct communication between those in positions of authority and the people they serve.
“For too long, governance has felt distant—locked behind walls of bureaucracy. But our country’s greatest resource isn’t oil or land; it is our people. If we are going to build the Nigeria of our dreams, we must start by tearing down the walls between leaders and the people,” he said.
Atiku described Ask AA as a platform for transparency, accountability and dialogue, explaining that Nigerians would be able to scrutinise his economic record, examine his policy proposals and offer suggestions on national development.
“No filters, no intermediaries,” he said.
The former Vice-President also revealed plans to personally contact selected participants who provide their telephone numbers through the platform, allowing him to hear directly about their experiences and the challenges they face.
“Beyond answering questions here, I will personally call selected citizens who leave their contact details so I can hear directly about their experiences and the issues affecting their daily lives,” he said.
Atiku, who served as Vice-President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, has contested the presidency on multiple occasions.
He urged Nigerians to participate in the initiative by submitting questions and recommendations, stressing that the pursuit of a technology-driven and transparent government should begin with how leaders listen to citizens.
