The member representing Jema’a/Sanga federal constituency of Kaduna state, Hon. Daniel Amos, has attributed the upgrade of the Kaduna Polytechnic to Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies to the commitment of Speaker Abbas Tajudeen to educational advancement of the state and Nigeria at large.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Services Committee in a statement lauded Speaker Abbas for achieving legislative excellence through the sponsorship and successful passage of the bill establishing the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna.

Amos described the feat as historic and a demonstration of purposeful leadership, noting that despite his tight schedule and demanding responsibilities as Presiding Officer of the House, the speaker found time to initiate and diligently pursue the landmark legislation for the educational advancement of Kaduna state and Nigeria at large.

“Speaker Tajudeen’s leadership on this bill demonstrates purposeful commitment to education and national development,” the lawmaker said.

He noted that the Act, which repeals the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna and upgrades it to the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna, will reposition technical and vocational education, promote skills development, and accelerate national development.

Amos also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for granting presidential assent to the bill, alongside that of the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Yaba, Lagos both sponsored by the Speaker.

He described the assent as a clear testament to the president’s commitment to educational reform and human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Amos congratulated the people of Kaduna state, the management, staff and students of the former Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, and assured that the House will continue to support the smooth take-off of the new university.

The passage of the bill into law is expected to unlock federal funding, expand degree programmes, strengthen research capacity and improve graduate employability in Kaduna state and the surrounding region.
