Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni has reopened Kanamma Market which was closed for over four years as a result of Boko Haram insurgency.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the market which holds every Sunday is fully back to business.

Buni has also ordered that the Airtel telecommunication services in the area shut down for over two years should be restored to support livelihoods.

Represented by the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon Yerima Lawan Mahmud, the governor expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian military, the police and other paramilitary security agencies for restoring peace in the state and the North East region which made it possible for the market to be re-opened.

Governor Buni also expressed delight at the re-opening of the market which, for many years, was enhancing trans-border trade and promotion of relations between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

Buni reminded the people in Kanamma and other towns of the state to remain vigilant in their markets and neighbourhoods and report any suspicious activity to the security agencies.
