The Movement Adebayo for President (MAP) has listed 21 reasons it believes Nigerians should support the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Citizen Adewole Adebayo, in the 2027 general election, citing his policy proposals, legal career and commitment to social welfare.
In a statement promoting Adebayo’s candidacy, the movement highlighted his proposed solutions to Nigeria’s security, energy, education and economic challenges, describing him as a contender with a comprehensive agenda for national development.
MAP said Adebayo had published a 117-page manifesto containing policy proposals, implementation timelines and strategies for addressing the country’s challenges.
The group also cited his legal practice, particularly his reported commitment to providing free legal services to indigent Nigerians, as evidence of his concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens.
On youth development, MAP said the SDP candidate understood the difficulties confronting young Nigerians and was committed to addressing them through education, skills acquisition and empowerment programmes.
It identified his campaign slogan, “Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity,” as a reflection of his stated priorities for the country.
On security, MAP said Adebayo had proposed retraining and equipping security personnel, as well as improving their remuneration and welfare.
The group said the candidate believed Nigeria must adequately support those responsible for protecting lives and property to improve the country’s security situation.
On energy policy, MAP highlighted Adebayo’s support for a carefully considered return of fuel subsidy, which he believes could reduce energy costs and ease the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises.
According to the movement, his economic agenda includes investment in agriculture, affordable energy, domestic refining, energy logistics, industrial development and improved electricity distribution.
MAP said Adebayo considered reliable electricity essential to expanding manufacturing, creating jobs, strengthening businesses and developing modern infrastructure.
The group also pointed to his proposed investment in education, vocational training and empowerment programmes, which it said were intended to improve living standards and reduce poverty.
MAP also highlighted Adebayo’s reported international legal experience and involvement in peacebuilding and reconciliation initiatives.
According to the group, he had worked with the United Nations and the African Union on peacebuilding efforts and served on Liberia’s Peace and Reconciliation Commission.
The movement argued that the experience could help Nigeria strengthen international partnerships, attract investment and build confidence among global business partners.
However, the claims about Adebayo’s professional record and the likely impact of his proposed policies were presented by MAP as part of its campaign advocacy.
On governance, MAP said Adebayo was committed to transparency, accountability and effective citizen participation in decision-making.
The group argued that responsible leadership and public involvement in governance were necessary to address Nigeria’s regional and religious divisions.
It also said the SDP candidate intended to strengthen cooperation among states, expand exports and promote domestic production as part of efforts to improve the economy.
According to MAP, Adebayo’s social democratic philosophy emphasises meeting the basic needs of Nigerians through policies aimed at promoting social welfare, economic opportunities and inclusive development.
The movement urged Nigerians to examine Adebayo’s manifesto and policy proposals ahead of the 2027 general election.
It called on voters to consider alternatives to the present administration and the established political class, arguing that the country needed leadership focused on reducing poverty, improving security and promoting national development.
The statement concluded with a call for support for Adebayo, the SDP and the Movement Adebayo for President, describing the movement as a roadmap towards a new Nigeria.
