Nigerian music has grown in leaps and bounds,in the last few years. The likes of Burna Boy,Wizkid,Tems just to mention a few have done well by putting Afrobeats on the global music map.

While the established stars continue to do exploits on the local and international scene,a new wave of rising stars are also warming up to make a name for themselves. These stars showed glimpses of what they are capable of in 2022,music aficionados expect these artists to rule the airwaves in 2023.LEADERSHIP Sunday has compiled a list of 10 Nigerian artists to watch in 2023.

Mohbad

After his feud with his former record label boss, the defunct Marlian music artist has gathered some buzz. He is now on his way to the pinnacle of his career, with many people watching to see what he will do next and how much he can accomplish without the influence of his ‘wicked’ former boss, as he has dubbed him. They say clout is never a bad thing, and he has plenty of it right now. Hopefully, in 2023, he will make the most of it.

Minz

While his latest single “Wowo,” released towards the end of 2022, is rising up charts and getting heavy rotation on airplay, Minz has been at it for a minute. Discovering his gift from his early years, Minz began officially releasing music in 2016. With his laid-back style of singing, Minz has a knack for fusing traditional African rhythms into pop and R&B sounds. As a producer, he has a profound understanding of music which contributes greatly to his process whenever he’s recording. He’s more than prepared for the year as his upcoming EP reportedly features the likes of Runtown and Moliy.

At 18, Raebel is well on her way to becoming a shining light after breaking into the Nigerian music scene with her single “Miniskirt”. Using her music to demolish the structures of convention, the honey-voiced singer is winning over the audience with her sound that is a refined blend of Neo-soul, RnB and dancehall. She is endowed with an unnatural ability to compose songs within a short period of time, impressing onlookers with crafty lyrics.

T.I Blaze

In the Nigerian music scene, street pop has always been a force to be reckoned with. Olamide and Phyno pioneered this path years ago, which has proven to be one of the industry’s most thriving genres. After garnering some success in 2022, Blaze is poised for bigger things in the street pop lane, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.

Big C

Big C is an exceptional rap artist, his single ‘Superfly” dropped in late 2022 to rave reviews.Big C is considered a breath of fresh air in the hip-hop scene, what sets him apart from every other rapper is his delivery, word play, catchy hooks and intelligent punch lines.Big C is set to make a huge statement in the music industry,in Nigeria and globally.Wirhout a doubt 2023 is the year of Big C.

Zinoleesky

Zinoleesky is without a doubt a rare gem in the industry. He had a fantastic season in 2022, but he could not break into the international scene at the level we had all hoped for. Partly due to labeling limitations, but that is about to change. Given how they handled his most recent project, it is clear that they are ready to expose him fully.

Boy Spyce

Boy Spyce of Mavin Records is one of the few voices that has what it takes to end 2023 as a global star. He possesses all of the necessary elements, including finance, team, sound, and brand. His unreleased song ‘So Bad’ is already gaining traction and could be his first hit in the new year.

T Dollar

T Dollar is a Nigerian Afrobeat singer who piqued our interest in 2022 with his single ‘Rise,’ which quickly became one of our anthems. With a little push, deliberate collaborations, and affiliation with an experienced team, T. Dollar could be the next Asake. He has everything he requires.

Odumodublvck

Odumodublvck is without a doubt Nigeria’s unicorn. He is not just gaining new fans on a daily basis; he is doing so effortlessly and with very few resources. Odumodu is unquestionably one of the few artists well-positioned to dominate the industry in 2023.

Pawzz

Originally from Benue State, David Tokuma Dekor, better known by his stage name “PAWZZ,” is a Nigerian singer and rapper who was born in Port Harcourt on December 14, 2002. Although he doesn’t yet have a single out, Pawzz has opened up for Wizkid at the Flytime Fest in 2022, as well as at the infamous ISL Fest 2022, the Spotify Island Blockparty, and a few other events as he gets ready to rule in 2023. He is undoubtedly an artist to watch.
