The Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is set to unveil its new building tomorrow(Monday, January 30, 2023) in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
This was confirmed by the management of the court, which on Wednesday, 26th January 2023, unveiled its plans for 2023 during an inaugural meeting with staff held in the Court’s new building located in the Gudu district of Abuja.
The President of the Court, Justice Edward Amoako Asante told the staff that the new building, located on Plot 1164 Joseph Gomwalk Street of the district, will be formally opened on Monday, 30th January 2023 during a ceremony to be attended by senior officials of the host government, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, ambassadors of ECOWAS Member States and representatives of other stakeholders.
According to a statement issued by the media arm of the Court, the new building was allocated by the federal government of Nigeria in response to a request by the Court for a bigger office complex to accommodate its staff who previously worked from two locations within the city.
During the meeting with staff, which was held in the new office, the President told staff that additional facilities have been installed in the building in order to promote greater productivity and efficiency and assured them that the challenges associated with the relocation will be addressed.
He also reminded staff of the need to avail themselves of the existing platforms for accessing services such as medical claims, education grant and official travels/missions and stressed the need for them to comply with the provisions of the staff regulations.
The President also told staff of the ongoing recruitment exercise to fill the vacancies in the Court’s organogram for greater efficiency as well as the training programme for 2023 in line with the career development trajectory for staff.
The meeting was attended by the judges, Directors and staff of the Court.
