Mpakaboari LongJohn Foundation (MLJ FDN) has announced plans to release the list of essential new and rising artists poised to make a major impact in the first quarter of 2023.

The previous year was large with concerts and shared experiences around music, which showed a promising future for newcomers as they formed a connection with other artists.

Unlike in 2020 when many artists turned to social media and live streams, while others let the music do the talking, in some ways 2021 and 2022 were promising years for more rising artists than usual.

According to the co-founder of the non-governmental organization, Patience Mpakabori LongJohn, there are many new essential and rising artists poised to make a major impact in the music industry and they will be revealed soon.

As it is now the tradition, the Foundation has taken care to draw up a list of fast-rising Nigerian talents, making diverse-sounding music and representing different subcultures and lifestyles, that are sure to influence and inform the Nigerian airwaves as the year unfolds.

Some of these are brand new artists who were just getting started while some are those who leveled up and hit their stride, but are worth keeping an eye on this year.

Speaking about the plans, Mpaka said; “I am an avid believer that there are a lot of talents that will blow your minds. They are like a hidden gem in the middle of this country that is completely underrated.

“Many of these artists we are unveiling soon, I did not expect to find what I found: the true, in-depth human connections that they showed through their music,” she stated in via an Instagram post.
