Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has threatened to sack political appointees and All Progressives Congress officials found selling empowerment items meant for distribution to constituents.
Yusuf, represented by the APC state chairman, Umar Doguwa, issued the warning on Monday during the 12th empowerment programme of Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial District.
The programme featured the distribution of 16 vehicles, 400 motorcycles and sewing machines to beneficiaries.
“Whoever sold this intervention will go with his position; I will personally sack him. It is meant for your welfare, not selling, especially party leaders,” the governor warned.
He urged beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purposes, stressing that the intervention was designed to improve livelihoods, strengthen small businesses and promote economic empowerment.
Yusuf also expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections, urging party members to intensify efforts towards securing victory.
At the event, 16 vehicles were presented to APC local government chairmen, while 400 motorcycles were distributed to party executives across the district.
Additionally, 200 tailors received empowerment packages comprising two standard sewing machines and one industrial sewing machine each, to support their businesses and enable them to train and employ others.
Speaking at the event, Sumaila said the initiative was part of his commitment to translating his constituents’ mandate into tangible development and sustainable livelihoods.
He listed interventions in security, road infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare and water supply among his achievements in the district.
On security, the senator commended local vigilante members, popularly known as Yan Sa-kai, for their efforts in securing Falgore Forest in Doguwa Local Government Area.
He said his office had also supported road construction and rehabilitation, bridge building and drainage projects to improve transportation and commercial activities.
Sumaila added that farmers had received agricultural machinery, improved seeds and thousands of bags of fertiliser, while motorised, solar-powered and hand-pump boreholes had been provided to communities.
In education, he said schools had been constructed and renovated, learning materials supplied, and more than 1,000 students supported in secondary and tertiary institutions.
He further disclosed that healthcare facilities across the district had been renovated and equipped with modern medical tools.
The senator appealed to constituents to remain patient and supportive, assuring them of his continued commitment to improving living standards and extending development projects across Kano South.
