Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf yesterday swore in six new commissioners, three advisers and 19 permanent secretaries, while announcing a minor cabinet reshuffle involving two commissioners.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature, the swearing-in ceremony followed the confirmation of the six commissioner nominees by the House of Assembly on October 26, 2026, after their screening.
The new commissioners are; Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u (retd.), assigned to the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services; Ibrahim Namadi Dala,-Investment; Prof. Sani Manunfashi- Higher Education; Muktar Yakasai,
Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Dr Aminu Tsanyawa- Science and Technology and Idris Garba Mustapha, Special Duties.
In the cabinet reshuffle, the governor redeployed the commissioner for information and internal affairs, Dr Ibrahim Waiya, to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Similarly, Hamza Kachaco was moved to the Ministry of Environment.
The reshuffle leaves the ministries of Information and Internal Affairs, as well as Solid Minerals and Mineral Resources, without commissioners.
Yusuf said the appointments and redeployments were aimed at strengthening government institutions, improving administrative efficiency and enhancing service delivery across the state.
He urged the new appointees to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and commitment, stressing the need to prioritise public interest.
The governor also charged them to work together in advancing his administration’s development agenda and delivering democratic dividends to the people of the state.
He congratulated the appointees and wished them success in their respective assignments.
