Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have neutralised two attackers of Sabon Angwa community in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State, where four lives were lost on Thursday.
The Media and Information Officer of OPEP, Captain Polycarp Oteh, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in Jos.
According to him, troops trailed the attackers to a village, and on sighting the troops, the attackers opened fire. The troops responded with superior firepower, neutralizing two of the attackers while others fled the scene.
He said efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects to face the wrath of the law.
It will be recalled that four persons were reportedly killed when gunmen attacked Sabon Angwa community, around Bet/Zat in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, on Thursday night.
The attackers were said to have stormed the community at about 8:00 p.m. and opened fire on residents, despite the curfew imposed in parts of the state to check attacks and restore security.
“They were shooting at anything in sight. The attack created panic in the community, and four people were killed,” a source said.
