National secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has backed the candidacy of former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, for Imo East Senatorial District contest.

Anyanwu made this known in an address at the campaign rally of the party held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Iho in Ikeduru local government area.

Senator Anyanwu said among all the contestants in Owerrri Zone for the senatorial seat, Madumere is the most qualified, with requisite experience, exposure, capacity and pedigree to deliver, having served in various public and sensitive positions in the past.

He said Madumere’s reach and contact places him in a vintage position to negotiate strategically across the board for the development of Owerrri Zone.

Anyanwu said, “Madumere stands tall among his contemporaries, since I left the Senate, I have not handed over to anybody, today, I have decided to hand over to Madumere, the mantle of leadership in Owerrri senatorial zone and by the special grace of God, so shall it be.

“I have looked around, none of the other contestants in the other political parties have the competence and expertise of our candidates.”

Anyanwu stressed that the PDP is alive and battle ready to confront opponents frontally and revealed that the Rainbow Coalition is the catalyst for upliftment, and harvesting the potentialities of political gladiators across the country.

Anyanwu explained that he is the chairman of Rainbow Coalition in the state and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike is the National leader, and has set the pace for national development and cohesion.

He highlighted that mechanism has been put in place to enthrone him, (Anyanwu) as the next governor of Imo State, through the instrumentality of the Rainbow Coalition.

Senator Anyanwu submitted that it is his turn to govern Imo State, after the tenure of Hope Uzodimma.

He submitted that the Rainbow Coalition has come to stay, and anybody who is against the Rainbow Coalition is afraid of himself and has skeleton in his cupboard.

He said, “The Rainbow Coalition as propagated by our leader, Barr. Nyesom Wike remains a major platform for us to realize our dreams and aspirations. The Rainbow Coalition has come to stay and anybody against the Rainbow Coalition is afraid of himself and has skeleton in his cupboard.”

In his address, the PDP Senatorial candidate for Imo East District, Prince Madumere stressed that he has contracted experts to view the zone aerially and embarked on needs assessment , so as to work in accordance with the people’s expectations and aspirations.

Prince Madumere, highlighted that he will continue where Anyanwu stopped in the Senate and all the projects will be completed.

Prince Madumere, revealed that the target is not only Senate, but to work hard and reclaim the governorship of the state.

He predicted that in the coming weeks, there will be influx of people intending to join the party and pleaded with party members and stakeholders to open the door and allow them to come in and register.

He said, “I am seeking your mandate to represent Owerri Zone in the Senate because I believe our people deserve an experienced, accessible, and effective voice in Abuja.

“My mission is clear, to advocate for greater opportunities for our youths, promote women’s economic empowerment, pursue federal projects for our communities, and support policies that improve the lives of our people.

“Our people deserve more than promises. They deserve representation that listens, leadership that engages, and a Senator who understands that public office is a responsibility to the people.

“My people, let us work together as one family. Let us build a strong team that can advocate for our communities, promote development, and pursue opportunities for our people at the federal and state levels.

This journey is not about one individual, It is about the future of Ikeduru, the progress of Owerri Zone, and our determination to make our voices resonate.”
