2027: ADC Urges Nigerians To Reject APC, Learn From US Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians to learn from the outcome of the United States midterm elections by using their votes to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The opposition party said the American elections demonstrated the power of citizens to hold political leaders accountable through the ballot box, regardless of the influence of the ruling party.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said Nigerians should draw lessons from what it described as a decisive rejection of the ruling Republican Party and its economic policies by American voters.

The party argued that elections should be determined by the welfare of citizens rather than political sentiments, loyalty or personality cults.

“Americans have shown that when politicians become arrogant, when policies punish ordinary people, and when those in power mistake popularity for a permanent licence to govern, the ballot box remains the ultimate instrument of accountability,” the statement said.

The ADC accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of worsening economic hardship, insecurity and unemployment, insisting that Nigerians should not reward the APC with another mandate in 2027.

It said Nigerians could not continue to complain about the rising cost of living and insecurity while voting for the same political party responsible for their predicament.

The party urged eligible voters to turn out massively in 2027 and use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to effect political change.

“The ADC and its candidates are offering Nigerians a clear alternative: Make Nigeria Affordable Again. Make Nigeria Safe Again. Give Nigerians Jobs Again,” it said.

The opposition party further declared that no political party was entitled to remain in power indefinitely, urging Nigerians to place their welfare above partisan considerations.

“If Americans can use their votes to demand better, Nigerians can do the same. In 2027, let our votes speak louder than the APC-induced suffering,” the statement added.
