The slogan, “Tinubu Must Go”, echoed across Illorin Road in Sokoto metropolis on Wednesday as supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gathered for the party’s presidential campaign flag-off ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The chant, which resonated repeatedly among the crowd, reflected growing opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the ADC’s push to mobilise support for a change of government in 2027.
The rally attracted supporters from different parts of Sokoto State, who gathered to express solidarity with the party and its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Many of the supporters used the gathering to express dissatisfaction with the Tinubu-led administration, citing the prevailing economic hardship and persistent security challenges confronting Nigerians.
The rally also featured opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the ADC intensified efforts to strengthen its political presence in the North-West.
The repeated chants of “Tinubu Must Go” underscored the party’s attempt to turn public discontent into political support ahead of the 2027 polls.
The campaign flag-off is part of the ADC’s broader mobilisation efforts to expand its grassroots support and position itself as a major challenger to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, as of the time of filing this report, the ADC presidential campaign train was yet to arrive at the venue after departing the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.
The delay was reportedly due to the large crowd of supporters gathered along the route from the airport to the rally venue.
