A civil society organization (CSO), Junior Chamber International Abuja Unity (JCI) has called on Nigerian youths to be more active in Nation Building and participate actively in politics.
The president of the group, Ambassador Samuel Chinonyerem made the call at the peace and security Stakeholders workshop and advocacy with the theme: “Nigerian Youth, Leading Nation Building via Ballot,” in Abuja yesterday.
Samuel said young people must take responsibility and be ambassadors of peace, especially during the elections.
According to him, youths should make it a duty to go and pick up their PVCs and vote for their preferred candidates, and the government through the security agencies to provide an enabling environment for a peaceful election.
He also called on politicians to desist from any act that will bring violence before, during, and after the elections. The government of the people will emerge at the end of the February/March 2023 election.
While speaking on insecurity, he attributed the causes of insecurity to a poor system of governance, a weak judicial system, injustice, nepotism, and a culture of impunity, religious intolerance, political praise singing, unemployment among others issues.

Samuel said, “Good governance is identified as a key solution to all these factors. Having the right leadership in place will reduce or end insecurity in the country. The need for competent leadership that will guarantee good governance cannot be overemphasized, especially as we enter an election season”.
