The president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, said, Hainan Free Trade Port’s zero-tariff policy, tax cuts and other incentives offer Nigeria a huge opportunity to grow non-oil exports to China and Asia.
Ibrahim stated this on the sidelines of the 2026 Hainan Free Trade Port International Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hainan Provincial Committee, in collaboration with other organisations to attract partnerships from different countries.
He urged the Nigerian private sector to tap into the opportunities presented by the free trade port to scale up exports, especially for non-oil products, to China and the wider Asian markets.
Ibrahim, who is also the president of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI), led a key delegation of Nigerian businessmen, including NACCIMA members, to the engagement held in Haikou.
He said NACCIMA will develop strong cooperation with the authorities and private sector in Hainan to penetrate mainland China and other countries on the Asian continent, focusing mainly on non-oil exports, processing, and value addition.
He also called for the establishment of a Nigerian warehouse in the Hainan free trade port, and a Chinese warehouse in Nigeria for win-win investment results.
Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Zhao Feng noted that the Hainan free trade port was strategically planned by President Xi Jinping to facilitate investments, trade and development.
He added that the government will continue to support with policies and other incentives that make cooperation with Hainan attractive.
Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou, Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas encouraged private sector players in Hainan to take special interest in Nigeria for investment, technology transfer, and establishment of factories.
She noted that just like Hainan is a gateway to mainland China and the rest of Asia, Nigeria also stands at a vantage position serving as gateway to West Africa and most African countries.
She said the country is currently implementing economic reforms that will boost investments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
NACCIMA’s participation in the 2026 Hainan Free Trade Port International Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference underscores its continuously rising influence within the international trade and investment promotion ecosystem.
