Engineers Urged To Adhere To Professional Standards

Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abuja branch, has inducted 52 young engineers and urged them to uphold the ethics of the profession, as stipulated in the Engineering Code of Conduct.

The induction took place at the NSE headquarters Abuja, with the Topic: “Pathway to a successful engineering career (Discovering Your Greatness)).” delivered by ENGR. M.B Gunat, an assistant director at the Federal Capital Development Authority.

In his opening remarks, the NSE president, Engr Tasiu Gidari-Wudil, enumerated the role and importance of engineers in society.

He asked them to pursue the vision and the ideals of the Nigerian Society of Engineers as enshrined in its Memorandum and Articles of association.

Wudil, who was represented by pice president of NSE, Engr Bemigho Ofoeyeno, urged the newly inducted members to actively participate in the activities of the Society and in such activities that would foster the development of the engineering profession.

“I also encourage you to abide by the Code of Ethics of the Engineering Profession at all times,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abuja branch, Engr Ben Osy Okoh said the induction ceremony was to welcome the new members to the branch and the engineering family, bring to their knowledge some of the activities of the branch and the society in general, stimulate interest on what the future holds for them as engineers, and emphasised on the need to follow the engineering code of ethic in their practice.

He extolled the qualities of the guest speaker and expressed confidence he would do justice to the topic.

He enumerated the agenda of his administration and some of the achievements recorded thus far.
