The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) led by Ahmed Lawan Kuru as managing director/chief executive officer has won the Independent Awards 2022 ‘Public Sector Agency of the Year Award.’

A statement issued by head, Corporate Communications Department of AMCON, Mr Jude Nwauzor, said the latest award adds to the collection of awards on display on the cabinet of the debt recovery agency of the federal government of Nigeria even since it was established in 2010 as a key stabilising and re-vitalising tool with the aim of reviving the financial system by efficiently resolving the non-performing loan assets of the banks in the Nigerian economy.

Before now, AMCON had been recognised and rewarded publicly by a host of credible evaluation agencies and organisations including LEADERSHIP Newspapers, Federal Character Commission, New Telegraph Newspapers, BusinessDay Newspapers, and African Development Magazine, just to mention a few.

A representative of the MD/CEO of AMCON, Mrs Iyatum Adode-Kobiti, who led a delegation of AMCON to the awards including Mr Muhammad Najib Suleman to receive the award on behalf of the Corporation at the gala night, which held on Saturday in Lagos thanked the Management, the Editorial Board, and staff of Independent Newspapers Limited for selecting AMCON for the prestigious honour.

Adode-Kobiti is the group head, Corporate Services at AMCON.

With honours such as this for AMCON, and coming from one of the leading newspapers in the country, Mrs Adode-Kobiti restated the award came at a time AMCON is pushing to meet its mandate with the reenergised AMCON Act, which was recently amended by the National Assembly, and already signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

She also called on other media establishments in the country to support AMCON as the National assignment, which AMCON is doing ought to be the business of all well-meaning Nigerians because the debt AMCON is chasing will do a lot of good for the Nigerian economy if fully recovered.
