Uganda head coach, Jackson Mayanja, is looking forward to his side’s quarter-final clash against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face Uganda in the quarterfinals of the ongoing U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt as confirmed by the organisers.
The Nigerian side qualified for the quarter-finals on Saturday after they defeated Mozambique 2-0 in the final group A, finished second behind Senegal with six points, while Uganda confirmed their place in the quarterfinals after playing out a goalless draw against South Sudan on Sunday evening in Ismaila.
Uganda finished second behind Congo with five points winning one game and drawing two matches.
Mayanja’s side will confront Nigeria’s young Eagles at the Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday.
“This tournament is a bit tricky but this is the game but we had to get a result because I also rested my key players because I trust every player,” Mayanja was quoted by CAFonline.
“Since that we have qualified, now we’re planning for the next one so that we can qualify to the next stage.”
“There’s nothing much I can say about the drawing of lots. I’m not a coach who has pressure,” he said.
“This is what I was looking at whether I am first or second but I have qualified that is the most important.
