Gombe and Zamfara states’ electorates have been called upon to come out en mass and vote for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election.
The call was made by Yakubu Shuaibu Gara who is contesting for the Gombe State House of Assembly under the PDP while speaking with newsmen in Jos the Plateau State capital to review the performance of the PDP in the recent presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to him, the party’s performance at the polls was tremendous and that it will be better at the forthcoming governorship and state House of Assembly polls.
He said the PDP still remains the party to beat, and that with the quality governorship candidate it has in his home state of Gombe, Mohammed Barde, he was very sure that the party will emerge victorious.
According to him, Muhammed Barde is a man of the people, a grassroots personality, focused and goals driven, adding that Barde’s antecedents over the years shows that he will perform creditably well if elected Gombe State governor.
He stressed that the victory of PDP in Gombe State at the presidential election, where the people overwhelmingly voted for Atiku, has already given the people more encouragement and assurance that the party will still be voted for at the governorship and house of assembly elections.
Similarly, Gara said another pragmatic PDP governorship candidate is that of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawan Dare, who is a dogged leader and has passion for development.
He described Dare as an honest and intelligent man, who will bring his wealth of knowledge to uplift the state if elected.
