The police in Lagos State have arraigned a 24-year-old man, Onyeka Nwanfor, before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman and using a fake gun to rob one Henry Ajayi of eight mobile phones valued at N5 million.

The police docked the defendant before Magistrate  Esther Kubenje on a four-count charge of robbery and rape.

The police prosecutor, ASP Ola Olasiyan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 20, 2022.

Olasiyan claimed that the defendant allegedly used one revolver pistol toy gun to rob one Henry Ajayi of eight varieties of mobile phones valued at N5 million and also had sexual intercourse with a 30-year-old woman in the Magodo area of the state.

The charge read, “That you, Onyeka Nwanfor, and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the Magisterial above District, did rape a woman, 30, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

Although Magistrate Kubenje did not take the defendant’s plea, she remanded him in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Kirikiri. She adjourned the case to March 28 for mention.
