Global Education Urges Nigeria, Others To Save Local Languages

Secretary General of Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC), Sheik Manssour Bin Mussallam has called on Nigeria and other member states to revive indigenous languages to  save them from extinction.

He made the call  in Abuja yesterday during a visit to the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Sheda, Abuja.

 Mussallam who was on a first official visit to Nigeria said the purpose of OEC is to contribute to the equitable, just and prosperous social transformation of societies by promoting balanced and inclusive education.

 OEC was established on 29 January 2020 by Latin American, Caribbean, African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific Island countries at the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education held in Djibouti.

 He said it is working with member states and their institutions to provide technical support as articulate in financial and capital investment for the development of indigenous technologies.
